About the report

AI is no longer just a question for data centres. It is becoming a question for every network that carries its traffic.

As AI adoption continues to grow across consumers, business and public services, it will place new and changing demands on the UK’s fixed, mobile and wireless infrastructure — including in capacity, latency, resilience and where that capacity needs to sit.

The DCF commissioned STL Partners to examine what those demands are likely to be, and what they mean for how the sector plans and invests. The research was supported by government, Ofcom and the DCF’s industry members.

The launch brings together senior figures from across the digital connectivity value chain, government and Ofcom to hear the findings first and discuss what should happen next.
