Digital Connectivity Forum appoints Lindsey Fussell as new Chair

Lindsey Fussell, former Group Director for Networks and Communications and experienced senior leader across public bodies, has been appointed the new Chair of the Digital Connectivity Forum (DCF).

The DCF is the UK Government’s primary advisory group on the provision of seamless digital connectivity. Its goal is to support seamless digital connectivity and empower positive societal change and economic growth across the UK. The DCF serves as an expert advisory forum for the entire digital connectivity sector and provides government with advice and recommendations through evidence-building and research.

In addition to her former role as Group Director for Networks and Communications at Ofcom, where she led critical work in the protection of consumer interests and the promotion of competition across the telecoms, post and digital network sectors, Lindsey has also held a range of senior leadership roles at public bodies. This includes time as Public Services Director at HM Treasury, leading on devolution, education and culture, as well as defence and criminal justice. Lindsey also led important aspects of the 2015 Spending Review.

Her appointment comes at a pivotal moment as the UK accelerates its push for ubiquitous, advanced connectivity, with ambitious goals to bridge the digital divide, enhance infrastructure resilience, and ensure equitable access to high-speed networks for all communities by 2030.

Alex Mather, Head of the Digital Connectivity Forum, said:

“Lindsey is one of the most respected figures in the UK’s digital connectivity landscape and her wealth of regulatory and public policy experience make her an ideal new Chair of the DCF.  Lindsey brings a unique blend of strategic leadership, knowledge of the telecoms sector as well as deep understanding of the public and private sectors.

The DCF and its sponsors are thrilled to have her lead the next chapter of our work and help ensure the UK takes full advantage of the transformative benefits of advanced connectivity. Under her leadership, the Forum will continue to play a vital role in shaping the policies and partnerships that drive long-term, nationwide digital transformation and growth.”

Commenting on her appointment, Lindsey Fussell said:

“I am delighted to be asked to Chair the Digital Connectivity Forum. The UK digital connectivity sector has made remarkable progress in recent years, but there is more to do to ensure no household, business or consumer is left behind as we embrace a digital society. Reliable and resilient advanced connectivity is fundamental to the UK’s economic growth and social wellbeing.

The Forum plays a critical role in bringing together industry and government to tackle shared challenges, shape policy, and ensure every corner of the country benefits from fast, reliable, and advanced infrastructure. I look forward to working with the DCF’s members and stakeholders to deliver a connected future that empowers communities, drives economic growth, and transforms lives.”
