BSG issues response to DCMS Consultation on Broadband Siting Requirements

Today the Broadband Stakeholder Group issues its response to the recent DCMS Consultation on Broadband Siting requirements which closes this Wednesday 13 March.

We welcome the proposal that for five years, broadband street cabinets can be installed under permitted development rights in any location (other than a SSSI) without the need for prior approval from local planning authorities and that the requirement to underground telecommunications apparatus everywhere is removed. We believe both proposals are welcome in facilitating efficient and effective broadband investment and rollout.
