BSG Annual Conference – The UK Telecoms landscape after Brexit – Monday 31 October 2016
The Broadband Stakeholder Group is delighted to invite you to our free Annual Conference on Monday 31 October 2016.
The outcome of the 23rd of June referendum naturally sparked immediate debate and considerable speculation on the future of the UK post Brexit. The BSG Annual Conference of 2016 will focus on what the telecoms sector is looking for from the UK’s new relationship with the EU – and give a taste of how we will be able to exercise influence of EU decision-making. The all-day event will see experts exploring issues specific to the UK telecoms sector, considering the challenges but also the opportunities for the sector pre and post-Brexit.
After an overview of the current landscape of the telecoms sector within the EU, legal and industry experts across the broadband value chain will take stock of the various regulations, policies and trade agreements and will assess their impact on the market. Senior representatives from NKOM and ComCom (Norwegian and Swiss telecoms regulators) will provide their perspectives on their relationship with the EU and the rest of the world as well as an overview of the repercussions on their respective markets. Experts will conclude the Conference with a forward-looking discussion exploring the preferable short and long-term options for the communications industry in a future outside the EU.
This event will see contributions from a wide range of stakeholders including infrastructure and internet service providers, content providers, ICT manufacturers, legal experts and regulators and is essential for anyone wanting a comprehensive understanding of what Brexit will mean for telecoms.
The Conference is sponsored by Shepherd and Wedderburn and confirmed speakers include Irene Aamot (Director, NKOM), Marc Furrer (President, ComCom), Dan Butler (Head of Public Affairs and Policy, Virgin Media), James Fredrickson (Regulatory Manager, Vodafone), Matt Yardley (Analysys Mason), Camilla Bustani (Ofcom‘s International Policy Director) and Richard Hooper CBE (Chairman, BSG).
Registration is free. Please email [email protected] with your name, position and organisation.
The event will take place at techUK, 10 St Bride St, London EC4A 4AD on Monday 31 October, from 9.30am and end with a networking reception until 6pm.
The Conference will be webstreamed.
Lunch will be provided.
